Optimal Earthquake Intensity Measures for Probabilistic Seismic Demand Models of Base-Isolated Nuclear Power Plant Structures

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the optimal earthquake intensity measures (IMs) for probabilistic seismic demand models (PSDMs) base-isolated nuclear power plant (NPP) structures. numerical model NPP structures developed using a lumped-mass stick model, in which bilinear employed simulate force-displacement relations base isolators. In study, 20 different IMs are considered and 90 ground motion records used perform time-history analyses. engineering parameters (EDPs) monitored terms maximum floor displacement (MFD), acceleration (MFA) structures, isolator (MID). As result, set PSDMs structure based on three EDPs (i.e., MFD, MFA, MID) associated with IMs. Four statistical including coefficient determination, efficiency standard deviation), practicality, proficiency then calculated performances isolated results reveal that respect MFD MID velocity spectrum intensity, Housner peak velocity, spectral at fundamental period.
